Robin Collins was born in Denver, CO in 1966. She grew up in Arvada, CO went to A-West High School and then Colorado State University. She met her husband Troy Nash in San Diego, CA where she lived for a couple of years after college. Robin and Troy were married in 1990 and moved back to Colorado to start their first business and raise their family. They settled in Castle Rock, CO and have two children, Karli and Jacob.
Robin was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2001 at age 35, after undergoing surgery, radiation and chemotherapy she was cancer free for 11 years. The disease came back in 2012, where it was discovered in her lymph nodes and bones...stage 4.
Robin passed away on December 3, 2019, after a courageous seven and half year battle with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. She was an inspiration not only to her family and friends, but to her doctors, nurses and other cancer patients as well. Her positive attitude, passion for life, incredible will to live, love of family and friends and her strong faith, gave her the strength to battle this terrible disease.
Robin was an incredible mother, a great business woman, an amazing wife, and friend to so many, and an inspiration to all that knew her. She has a passion for God, family, friends and life...we miss her every day!
She is undoubtedly an angel in heaven now.
To Date - as of December 31, 2023 the foundation has granted $14,900. Twice per year we grant money to a deserving person or family to help relieve a little bit of the financial stress that cancer places on families.
Thea H - Thea is in her early twenties and was diagnosed with Lymphoma. Thea was enrolled in college, but had to discontinue classes once her chemo treatments started. Thea's mother is legally blind and works as a massage therapist. Her father is on disability due to his own previous cancer battle as a teenager. Thea's mom is Robin's cousin and so we know she would be thrilled to know that her foundation helped Thea and her family pay some of their bills during this difficult time.
Brower Family - Castle Rock, CO - December 2022 - This is a young family in their late 20s with a 2 1/2 year old child. The father was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer and underwent an extensive surgery to remove his colon and 75% of his liver. He is unable to work and the family has been dealing with mounting medical bills. On top of that, the mom has been battling serious respiratory disease and has been hospitalized several times in the last year. Robin's foundation was able to help the family pay some bills with a grant in December 2022.
Aubrien Jimenz - Bradenton, FL - Aubrien is 14 years old and was diagnosed with a rare brain cancer called Esthnesioneuroblastoma. Her Cancer is stage 4 and she is facing a very challenging battle. Only 3 hospitals in the country have treated this type of cancer and the family is traveling to Texas for treatment. As you can image this is putting an enormous emotional and financial toll on the family. They not only need our financial help, but our prayers as well. We were made aware of Aubrien from Robin's dear friend Beth...Aubrien used to attend the school in Castle Pines where Beth is a speech therapist. You can read more about Aubrien's journey at https://www.facebook.com/thelightofAubrien
Update: June 9, 2022 - Aubrien's cancer continues to advance and she is now at home in hospice care. Aubrien's parents have had to both leave their jobs to be able to care for Aubrien and their other children. The financial help we have provided has been much needed and much appreciated. Our prayers and hearts go out to Aubrien and her whole family.
Mary V. - Jacksonville, FL - Mary was the very first recipient from the foundation. Mary has been taking care of children or seniors her whole career. In fact Mary was our live-in nanny back in 2001 when Robin was first diagnosed with breast cancer. She was a huge to help to us as Robin underwent surgery, radiation and Chemo. We have kept in touch with Mary all these years and were very sad to learn that she has bladder cancer and has been unable to work steadily since being diagnosed. She has been living on a small amount she gets from Social Security, so it has been our pleasure to help Mary with three grants.
Update: 2022 - Sadly, Mary passed away from bladder cancer earlier this year, she will be deeply missed. Robin's foundation was able to help Mary pay some mounting bills with several grants. She was unable to work and greatly appreciated the help.
Elle E. - Castle Rock, CO - Elle is a young woman who lost her mother when she was 12, and lost her father to COVID in 2020. Tom and Lora P. - Castle Rock, CO - Tom was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2020 and lost his job when he was unable to work. Tom and Lora have three daughters and one of their daughters was also recently hospitalized with an illness. They really needed some financial help. We were honored to give Tom and Lora two quarterly grants from Robin's foundation.
Makensie P. - Castle Rock, CO - Makensie was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020. She and her husband are both self employed and facing some very high deductibles for her health insurance.
